VISION:

TGSAN is a powerful and determined movement, which aspires to remain open to people of all races, ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, religions, genders, and sexual orientations. We envision a world which is free of shame and fear over opinion and sexual orientation and in which motivated students get involved and effect change in the community and world at large. We envision a world in which people know that, straight or queer, they are never alone, where social justice exists everywhere for all people, in which people are educated and informed about social issues including queer liberation, and in which stereotypes and homophobia have been eradicated.

Our vision is driven by our commitment to the following principles:

•  We are the product of the history of the queer liberation movement

•  Our efforts to effect change now will be the catalyst for the future

•  Freedom of expression, acceptance and understanding are all essential in a free and open world

•  All people are equal in the eyes of TGSAN

•  All ideas are given equal weight and consideration

•  We are and will continue to be a youth-led organization

•  Education, open discussion, and non-violent confrontation are all essential steps in the path towards obtaining understanding

MISSION STATEMENT:

TGSAN strives to create and organize GSAs in every school in NC, to provide GSA related trainings to teachers and school administrations, to form alliances with like-minded organizations, and to be a resource to GSAs in the Triangle.
